Where this app's D&D 5e content actually comes from, and what license (if any) applies to each part.

System Reference Document content (CC-BY-4.0)

The entries below are drawn from the official System Reference Document and are used here under the CC-BY-4.0 license — the full credit line appears just below.

  • System Reference Document (5.1 / 5.2) — 217 of 610 entries. The data does not record which edition (5.1 or 5.2) each of these entries came from.
  • dnd5e-bestiary — Every one of 322 entries carries source: "SRD 5.1" — confirmed uniform, zero exceptions.
  • dnd-conversion-rates — The Sorcerer Font of Magic / Sorcery Points / Flexible Casting tables were confirmed against the actual SRD 5.1/5.2 text by prior, independent research recorded in this project's own research notes.

The classification above reflects the source value recorded for each spell when the data was compiled. That value has not been independently checked against the original publications, so an occasional mis-tagged entry is possible.

Book abbreviations above are expanded to a full title only where that title could be confirmed. Where it couldn't be, the abbreviation itself is shown rather than a guess. This map is maintained by hand — a source value nobody has classified yet blocks this page from being regenerated until a person adds it here; it is never added automatically.

Untracked content

For these datasets, no per-entry source is recorded, so no claim is made about where any individual entry came from.

  • dnd5e-equipment (base weapon/armor tables) — This file's own section-header comments say "D&D 5e SRD", but the EquipmentWeapon/EquipmentArmor/EquipmentItem types carry NO per-entry source field, so no per-entry licence claim is made — a header comment is not a machine-checkable fact.
  • dnd5e-equipment (magic-item catalogue) — MAGIC_ITEMS_EXT's own comment names its scrape origin as dnd5e.wikidot.com/wondrous-items — a wiki, not a rulebook — and is not confirmed entry-by-entry. The wiki supplied the list, not the text: every description was rewritten in this project's own words on 2026-10-21.
  • dnd5e-equipment (2024 gear expansion) — MUNDANE_GEAR_2024's own comment names its scrape origin as dnd2024.wikidot.com/equipment:all — a SEPARATE scrape from the magic-item catalogue's, never merged into one "wikidot" source. Its descriptions were rewritten in this project's own words on 2026-10-21.
  • BUILTIN_FEATS — 89 built-in feats (database.types.ts). Each carries a "2014"/"2024" edition marker, never a book/document source, so no per-entry licence claim is made.
  • BUILTIN_RACES — 19 top-level built-in races, plus their subraces (database.types.ts). Each carries only a "2014"/"2024" edition marker, never a book source; no per-entry provenance is recorded.
  • BUILTIN_BACKGROUNDS (2014 / 2024) — 13 (2014) and 16 (2024) built-in backgrounds (database.types.ts). No per-entry book source field exists on either array.
  • BUILTIN_CLASSES (and subclasses) — 13 built-in classes and their subclasses (database.types.ts). Each carries only an edition marker (2014, 2024, or one meaning "shared across editions"), never a book source; no per-entry provenance is recorded.
  • system-templates (starter presets) — Starter system presets, D&D and non-D&D alike (src/lib/presets/system-templates.ts). The module's own comment asserts stat/skill names are game terminology, not licensed text — an unaudited claim here, exactly like the spells' source field above.

This list is a floor, not a ceiling: it names every dataset checked for this page so far — it is not a guarantee that no other bundled content is missing provenance.

An equipment or spell table imported before this fix may still show the old, less accurate description — existing tables are never rewritten automatically.

What is tracked, and what isn't

The spell list records where most entries come from, entry by entry. dnd5e-spells

The bestiary and the sorcery-point conversion rates were checked directly against the SRD text and are fully SRD-derived. dnd5e-bestiary, dnd-conversion-rates

The equipment and magic-item catalogue carries no per-entry source at all — see "Untracked content" above. dnd5e-equipment (base weapon/armor tables), dnd5e-equipment (magic-item catalogue), dnd5e-equipment (2024 gear expansion), BUILTIN_FEATS, BUILTIN_RACES, BUILTIN_BACKGROUNDS (2014 / 2024), BUILTIN_CLASSES (and subclasses), system-templates (starter presets)
